Whitehall lost a pair of one-run games Monday at Newaygo, 6-5 and 8-7, both in walk-off fashion.
Game one went into extra innings after the Vikings (11-12) rallied with three late runs to tie the game at 5. The Lions scored the winning run after two errors by the Whitehall defense in the eighth.
Annabel Kevwitch ripped an RBI double in the sixth inning to tie the score, on the heels of Janie Fagan and Megan LeaTrea getting consecutive RBI singles in the fifth. Kevwitch had three hits in the game and Fagan had two. LeaTrea allowed only one earned run on six hits and struck out five.
It was Newaygo that had the late rally in game two. After Whitehall led 7-2 in the sixth inning, the Lions scored three times each in the sixth and seventh to steal the win.
Both LeaTrea sisters, Megan and Beth, got two hits in the nightcap. Peyton Schultz drew four walks. Beth LeaTrea allowed four earned runs and struck out three.
