Montague scored its first basketball victory in its new gym Tuesday night, defeating Oakridge 38-37 in West Michigan Conference Lakes play.
Gentry Knop provided the dramatic conclusion to the win, drilling a late three-pointer to put her team ahead for good.
"We
had a lot of ups and downs tonight but we battled until the end," Montague coach Jess DeBruin said. "I am proud of how the girls
battled and were able to get our first win of the season."
The game was close at every stop, and the teams entered the fourth quarter tied at 28.
Knop led the 'Cats with 16 points, and Annelyse Schneider added eight. Marguerite O'Connell chipped in seven points.
