Whitehall's
Kassie Sapp highlighted local performances at Saturday's Northview
girls invitational, earning the championship at 130 pounds.
Sapp
bumped her record to 19-1 by dominating all three of her opponents,
scoring consecutive pins to reach the finals and then defeating
Plainwell's Ana Sofia Vega by technical fall.
Montague's
Zaniya Meza also had a strong day, going 3-1 and finishing third at
105. Meza won two matches by pin and her third-place match by decision,
9-8, against Romeo's Adalynn Thompson. Coach Kris Maddox said Meza's
only loss on the day came to Plainwell's Madison Nieuwenhuis, who is
committed to wrestle at the University of Iowa.
Miley Manzo went 2-2 on the day for Whitehall, picking up a pin and a major decision.
