Pentwater Historical Society makes history with Fourth of July parade

After more years than anyone can remember without an official Fourth of July parade, the Pentwater Historical Society (PHS) took the initiative to sponsor a community parade this year.
Jim Lambrix was the catalyst behind the project, and notices were put on social media and sent to museum supporters and PHS members. “Calling all interested persons: come with decorated bicycles, golf carts, ATVs, and antique cars. Meet in the Pentwater First Baptist Church parking lot at 3:15 on July 4 to join in a celebratory July 4 parade. Walkers welcome. Bring American flags.  Wear red, white and blue. Bring recorded patriotic music.”
The invitation elicited a great response. More than 50 vehicles showed up in addition to walkers and cyclists. The participants stretched out over five blocks and took an hour to complete the designated course. The PHS intends to repeat the event next year and hopes to create a new tradition for the community.
