Hart football takes first defeat of season against Fremont

Hart's dream start to the season hit a wall Friday night, as the upstart Fremont Packers dominated the two teams' West Michigan Conference Lakes contest, rolling to a 50-12 win.
The Packers blew the game open in the second quarter, scoring two touchdowns within 90 seconds to turn a 8-0 lead into a 24-0 advantage.
Hart (2-1, 1-1 WMC Lakes) finally got on the board with 1:01 left in the second quarter when Haegan Hansen took an 11-yard touchdown pass from Kolton Rockwell into the end zone to make it 30-6 after a failed two-point conversion. Unfortunately, though, Fremont answered with a 46-yard scoring pass on the final play of the first half to snuff out any momentum gained by that score.
The Pirates were outgained 349-167 in the game and went 1-of-11 on third downs. They also had four turnovers to Fremont's one.
Rockwell had 84 total offensive yards - 62 passing and 22 rushing - and his scoring pass to Hansen. Easton Hopkins later entered the game at quarterback and threw a short touchdown to Keaghan Monroe. Elijah Anastasiades caught a 47-yard pass in the game.
Hansen led the defense with nine solo tackles and an interception. Sawyer Boos had five solo tackles.
