Shelby and Hesperia capped their West Michigan Conference Rivers season Monday at the North Muskegon jamboree, and both programs had plenty to celebrate.
The Tigers finished in second place with a team score of 214, only 13 shots behind winner North Muskegon. Hesperia took fourth with a 231 - one shot behind third-place Mason County Central.
Shelby had two top-5 finishers, with Jordan Wolting and Kadence Blohm tying for third place with a 52. Each of them secured all-conference first team honors with their performance. Nicole Ortiz and Jaedyn Allen each shot a 55 to tie for eighth.
Hesperia's Britney Budde led her team with a 53, good for fifth place, and Macy Kammer had a 55 to join the tie for eighth. The performance made Budde the first all-conference first team player in Panthers' girls golf history.
"Four seasons ago, this program was just getting started," Hesperia coach Roxanne Kammer said in a social media post. "Since then, every girl who has worn a Hesperia golf shirt has helped us build something, and today we got to celebrate another pretty special step forward."
Zoey Bostrom shot a 60, and Sarissa Conkle closed team scoring with a 63. Conkle became the first honorable mention all-conference player for the program with her season.
