Playing its third game in three days, Shelby dug deep and was able
to come away with a 1-0 victory over Manistee Wednesday in West Michigan
Conference action.
The Tigers' Cesar Cadena converted a
penalty kick with nine minutes left in the game after he was fouled in
the box, and that proved to be the difference. Shelby's defense was
strong all night, only forcing keeper Oliver Gorton to make three saves
to secure the shutout.
"Manistee has a great goalie and he
made it hard
for us to score," Shelby coach Cristian Arellano said. "We had a total
of 22 shots...We were able to have more possession of the ball but
struggled to find the net."
