Whitehall played its last regular-season home games of the year Thursday and celebrated with a doubleheader sweep of Mason County Central, 8-2 and 11-4.
The Vikings (9-15) never trailed in either game and got out to quick starts on offense in both. Evan Thomas' two-run single highlighted a three-run second inning for Whitehall in game one. The Vikings later scored four times in the fourth on three consecutive extra-base hits - doubles by Thomas and Brock Morningstar, followed by a triple from Eli Winters.
Thomas had three hits in all in the opener, driving in three runs, and Cody Manzo added two hits. Noah Peterson picked up the win, allowing only four hits in six innings.
Whitehall scored four times in the second inning of game two to break that contest wide open. Thomas had an RBI single in each of the first two innings, and Nate Betz also drove in a run with a single. Winters tripled as part of a four-run fifth inning to respond to MCC's four-run top half of the frame.
Thomas drove in four runs in the game, and Betz had two hits. Myles Welch allowed two earned runs in five innings and struck out six to pick up the win.
