Whitehall golf finishes 4th in close Whitehall jamboree; Montague places 6th

Whitehall finished fourth in a close West Michigan Conference Lakes jamboree at home Tuesday, with Montague in sixth place. The meet closed out WMC Lakes action for the season.
The Vikings shot a 178, only nine strokes behind Ludington, which secured the WMC Lakes title with its win. Fremont shot a 172 and Manistee had a 177. Montague's score of 186 was two strokes behind Oakridge.
Whitehall's Rylan Johnson shot the best score among local players, a 43, which put him in eighth place overall. Four other players each had a 45; Brady Tate, Braedon Bond and Jones McDowell each notched that score for the Vikings, and Maxwell Welch led Montague with a 45 as well. Tate made a birdie during his round.
Like Whitehall, Montague had three players tie for the No. 2 scoring position on the team. Tanner Devries, Bucky Aney and Ethan Balon each shot a 47, with Devries making a birdie.
