Swift’s greetings from 100 years ago: 'Raspberry Pie' is ripe in the Land of Mears

A century later, raspberries are ripe again in our area, along with most everything else! If you are looking for something cool to do on these hot summer days, consider visiting the Oceana County Historical & Genealogical Society's two locations.
The Chadwick Munger House in Hart is open every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There, we had seven queries, and 47 guests visited during the May-June time frame.
In Mears, at the Swift Lathers Museum for June, the season opened up with around 120 fourth graders from Hart Public Schools. The students came for a visit to all seven buildings, where volunteers were there to greet them and tell them some information about the complex.
The Mears Museum Complex opened to visitors Saturday, June 21 for its first weekend this season. We are still open Saturdays and Sundays all summer from 1-4 p.m. Come visit us!
Have you joined the Oceana County Historical & Genealogical Society yet? The cost for membership is $20 per year and includes a quarterly newsletter to keep you up-to-date on all the society news.
We are also always in need of volunteers. Call (231) 873-2600 or stop in on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. See you there!
