Hart's teams each posted top-10 finishes in a field of larger schools Saturday at the West Ottawa Invitational.
The Pirate girls finished in eighth place out of 16 schools, while the boys were ninth in an 18-team field.
Hart's girls showed a balanced effort, with the first four finishers coming in within 75 seconds of one another. Natalie Rosema led the team, finishing 33rd in a time of 20:40.5. Emma Miller followed in 40th place (21:04.9), shortly followed by Alaina Schaner in 42nd (21:20.9). Bryn Riley placed 55th (21:55.7), and Luisa VanderZwaag rounded out the team's scoring in 70th (22:42.2).
On the boys' side, the team was even more closely packed, as all five scorers finished in 28 seconds. Grant Ackley paced the Pirates with a time of 17:44.4, good for 47th place. Timothy Wolff was close behind in 50th (17:50:1), and Mason Opalewski was 56th (18:06.97). Trevor VanderKodde (18:09.8) and Aiden Schaner (18:12.4) finished back-to-back in 58th and 59th, and Carson Ackley narrowly missed scoring by finishing a second and a half behind Schaner.
