Hart soccer beats Shelby in shootout to cap day at Big Rapids tournament

Hart edged Shelby in a shootout Saturday to pick up a win in its final game of the Big Rapids tournament Saturday.
The regulation part of the game was scoreless, so a penalty shootout was used to determine the winner. Hart keeper Miguel Escamilla came up with a key save in the shootout to give the Pirates the win.
Hart was 2-1 overall in the tournament, losing a game to Big Rapids 3-1 to open things up before defeating Kalkaska 5-3 in its second game. Adriel Belmares had two goals for Hart against Kalkaska. Isaiah Carreon, Logan Dean and Julian Tejada also had a goal each Saturday, and Dean added two assists.
The Tigers went 1-2 at the tournament, opening with a 2-0 win over Lake Odessa Lakewood and losing 3-2 to Hopkins, also in a shootout, in their second game.
