Hart teams dominate in WMC Rivers opening cross jamboree

Hart's teams dominated Tuesday's West Michigan Conference Rivers opening jamboree at Hesperia, easily winning both.
The Shelby girls team finished third, with Hesperia sixth. In the boys' race, Hesperia was fourth, and Shelby did not have enough finishers to post a team score.
The Pirate boys scored a perfect 15, with their five scorers being the top five finishers in the race. Grant Ackley won the race in a time of 19:43.3, and each of his scoring teammates followed in the next 19 seconds. Aiden Schaner took second in a time of 19:51.1, and Trevor VanderKodde was third in a time of 19:57.8. Just missing the 20-minute cutoff were Martin Fetteroff in fourth (20;00.0) and Carson Ackley in fifth (20:01.9).
Hart's girls had five of the top 10 finishers, led by Natalie Rosema in second place (22:40.0). Emma Miller took third (23:27.5) and Bryn Riley was fourth (24:21.9). Luisa VanderZwaag placed sixth (24:39.1), and Kenai Kokx closed out the scoring in 10th (26:10.9).
Kathryn Beyer paced the Tiger girls, coming in 12th place (26:23.5), with Noel Parker close behind in 14th (27:03.0). Also scoring were Ava Lamberg (21st, 30:35.6), Sydney Reed (23rd, 30:42.7) and Michelle Peterson (35th, 35:01.8).
Rokhaya Ruhstorfer was Hesperia's top finisher in the girls' race, placing 17th (28:06.4). Other scorers were Chloie Cryderman (37th, 35:16.0), Elyssa Wright (42nd, 40:48.3), Danielle Merritt (45:18.1) and Alana Javinsky (46th, 47:07.5).
Shelby finishers in the boys' race were Brycen Brown (14th, 20:49.3), Parker Weirich (15th, 20:57.5), Emilio Bustos (46th, 31:18.3) and Isaac Harrell (48th, 32:44.7). For Hesperia, Nate Ruhstorfer led the team in 12th place (20:34.0), followed by Andy Lopez-Garcia (20th, 21:59.1), Tony Lopez-Garcia (33rd, 25:13.1), Kolt Milner (35th, 25:48.5), Hunter Tinkham (36th, 25:52.5) and Jacob Priese (42nd, 27:43.8).
