Pentwater scored an impressive win over Montague Tuesday night, 7-3, dominating the second half of play.
The
teams were tied 2-2 at the half, but it was all Falcons (3-4-1) after
the break as they were able to pick up a win over the defending Division
3 district champions.
"It was a great game for us," Pentwater coach Ralph Achterhof said. "Our team did a
tremendous job. We came into the game expecting it to be competitive, so
we knew we had to work hard. Montague is a good team, so we needed to
be ready. The kids played tough."
Brayden Stein spearheaded
the Falcon attack with three goals, and Aron Mascorro added two, with
two assists. Brody Austin and Jacobo Martin Fernandez each got on the
board as well.
Keeper Ben Wisenbaugh was impressive in net against a relentless Montague offense, making 18 saves.
"Offensively, we passed the ball very well and were able to
capitalize on that and score some goals," Achterhof said. "Defensively, we had a few
errors that Montague was able to capitalize on and score, but overall,
they had a lot of stops and played a great game. Benjamin did a great
job in the goal."
