Montague got a taste of the postseason atmosphere over the weekend at the two-day Katke Classic, hosted at this year's Division 4 state finals course in Big Rapids. The Wildcats finished in third place, jumping past defending D-4 state champion Kalamazoo Christian on day two to accomplish that.
The only two teams Montague were behind on the leaderboard at tournament's end with its team score of 383-374-757 were defending D-3 state champion Grand Rapids Catholic Central and the host Big Rapids Cardinals.
Cadence Fox and Brynlee Kessler each earned top-10 medals for Montague, with Fox taking ninth place with a two-day score of 91-91-182 and Kessler in 10th with a 94-90-184.
Molly Mulder posted two sub-100 scores for the Wildcats, going 99-98-197, including a Friday birdie, and Addi Smith did it too, shooting a 99-99-198, also including a Friday birdie.
