Whitehall's Bobby Jazwinski dominated another high-level race
Saturday at the Portage Invitational, winning the Division 2 race by
nearly 30 seconds in a race that featured over 50 competing teams.
Jazwinski
nearly broke his own Vikings' school 5K record again, but settled for
an overwhelming time of 15:13.3, which was 29 seconds ahead of runner-up
Jonah Workman of East Grand Rapids. The Vikings finished 21st as a team
in the race.
Rex Pumford was the second Whitehall boys
finisher, coming in 32nd place and setting a new personal best time of
16:49.4 - nearly 30 seconds better than any other time he's run this
season. Justin Jensen finished in a time of 18:43.6, placing 176th. Ian
Dennis was 186th and had a time of 18:48.4. Matthew Badley was the
Vikes' fifth scorer, earning a time of 19:29.6 to finish 252nd.
The
Montague boys' team finished 17th out of 37 schools in the Division 3
race, with Gibson Smith and Nolan Kessler pacing one another in the
race. Smith blew past his previous personal best by 36 seconds
and finished just 0.2 seconds ahead of Kessler, taking 24th place
overall in a time of 17:10.1. Kessler was 25th and his 17:10.3 was his
second-best time of the season.
Wesley Mair took 97th place
for the Wildcats and notched a personal best time of 18:28.0, and Brock
Hunter was 171st (19:39.0). Adam Knopfler was Montague's fifth scorer
with a time of 20:43.3, taking 245th place.
Erica Hansen led
three Montague girls' finishers in a time of 25:13.5, finishing 208th.
Carlee Gillis was 283rd in a time of 27:43.5, and Willa Van Loon was
296th (28:47.0).
