Hart boys basketball overpowers Hesperia in each team's conference opener

Hart continued its dominant start to the 2025-26 season Friday night, handling Hesperia 73-19 in an intracounty showdown at Hesperia that doubled as each team's West Michigan Conference Rivers opener.
As it did in a similarly lopsided victory over Oakridge the night before, Hart (3-0, 1-0 WMC Rivers) caught fire very soon after tip-off, exploding for 28 first-quarter points to build a 16-point lead. The Hart defense fueled its success, as the press led to several Panther turnovers early on. Caleb Ackley had eight straight points during the run, and Jagger Lenon added one of his own to end the quarter.
Ackley scored 10 more points in the second quarter, but several Pirates contributed as Hart went up 51-16 by halftime. He ended the night with 22 points on 9-of-11 shooting; Lenon had 14. Miguel Escamilla chipped in 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
Nate Ruhstorfer and Marshall Norris each had five points for Hesperia (1-1, 0-1 WMC Rivers) in the defeat.
