WHITEHALL — Whitehall dropped a 45-32 decision to Western Michigan Christian Friday, fading offensively after a strong start.
The Vikings (0-2) scored eight straight points - six of them on three-pointers by Peyton Schultz - to end the first quarter with a 10-4 lead. After going into the halftime locker room down 16-14, Whitehall opened the third quarter on a 7-0 run, sparked by a banked three-pointer by Kate Beda, to take a 21-16 lead.
The Warriors, though, locked down the Viking attack the rest of the way and got 26 points from Maddy Folkema to get the win. WMC outscored Whitehall 19-9 in the fourth quarter to pull away.
"Senior Emma Decker had the best game of her high school career and was solid on both ends of the court," Whitehall coach Brian Milliron said, referring to Decker's eight points and five rebounds.
Schultz's nine points led the Vikes, and Clare Westerlund also had eight points and five boards. Janie Fagan led the team with six rebounds.
