Whitehall wrestling takes 3rd at Hart Invitational

HART — Whitehall took third place Saturday at the Mark Bosse Memorial Invitational in Hart, scoring 182 points. Two ranked opponents, Division 3 No. 7 Hart and No. 4 Lakewood, took the top two spots (the Vikings are ranked No. 6).
Whitehall had two first-place finishers - Max Krukowski at 138 pounds and Liam Leeke at 165. Krukowski easily rolled through his bracket, picking up a pin and a technical fall in his first two matches before dispatching Tri-County's Isaac Gitchel in the finals, 8-2.
Leeke also dominated his first two opponents, both by pin, and then faced off with Shelby's Jaylin Henderson in a battle of unbeatens in the finals. In a very competitive match, Leeke came away with a 15-10 victory. Leeke hit a career milestone during the meet by picking up his 100th victory.

Robert Belinger took second place for the Vikings at 113, battling his way through a pair of decision wins to make the finals, 6-3 and 5-3. Belinger's seven-match win streak to start the season ended in the finals when he fell to Hart's Sawyer Boos.
Three more Vikings finished in third place, with one (Wyatt McFarren) scoring points for the Whitehall B team. McFarren was third at 150, going 2-1 with two victories by pin.
Also for Whitehall, Dom Zygmuntowski took third at 126, going 3-1. Zygmuntowski picked up two bonus-point wins to start his day, one by technical fall and one by major decision, and the Viking freshman scored an 8-4 win in the third-place match. Zygmuntowski ran his record to 9-1 on the season.
Cody Manzo rounded out top-3 finishes for Whitehall, finishing third at 132. Manzo went 2-1, winning his first match by technical fall and his third-place match by pin.
