Hart managed just four points in overtime Friday night and lost a tough West Michigan Conference Rivers battle to Ravenna, 56-50.
The Pirates struggled, said coach Ron Williamson, with Ravenna's physical play. The team turned the ball over 29 times and also gave up 16 offensive rebounds to the Bulldogs.
"We need to take better care of the ball," Williamson said. "Credit to Ravenna - they were ready, we were
not."
Hart dug themselves a hole and trailed 37-28 going into the final quarter, but unleashed a furious rally to force overtime. Reese Smith had eight points in the fourth quarter alone as Hart outscored the Bulldogs 18-9 to get the game to the extra period.
However, the Pirates ran out of gas at the end and Ravenna got a lead and made enough free throws (5-of-8) to hang on.
Rilynn Porter led Hart with 13 points, and Smith added 10. Natalie Rosel put up 19 points for Ravenna.
