Hesperia defeated Muskegon Catholic 69-56 Friday in the first round of the Holton holiday tournament.
The teams traded leads back and forth throughout the game before the Panthers' press defense ignited the team to some easy baskets down the stretch, enabling them to pick up the win.
Malakai Sellers had a big day for Hesperia with 22 points, and Nate Sherburn added 15. Evan Conkle grabbed 13 rebounds.
