Shelby finished in eighth place at Saturday's Sparta Invitational, scoring 98.5 points in a field of much larger schools.
The Tigers' top finishers were stars Brody Fessenden and Jaylin Henderson, who each finished second. Fessenden went 3-1 at 157 pounds, advancing to the finals with three pins. He then fell to Cedar Springs' unbeaten Luke Egan in the title match, 8-0.
Henderson also went 3-1 at 165, earning two pins and a technical fall to reach the finals. Only Cedar Springs' Deegan Pike kept Henderson from the top of the podium, defeating Henderson in the finals.
