After great first half, Shelby girls basketball falls to unbeaten Covenant Christian to end regular season

Shelby hung tough early on, but lost its regular-season finale to unbeaten and Division 2 No. 5-ranked Covenant Christian Thursday night, 50-32.
The Tigers led 25-23 at halftime, but the Chargers dominated defensively in the second half and scored 27 points to Shelby's seven. Shelby shot only 18% from the field in the game.
Jayna Burmeister scored 17 points - eight of them at the free throw line - and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Tigers. Michelle Peterson added nine points and four assists.
