Reeths-Puffer went 1-2 at Saturday's season-opening quad meet at Hope College. The Rockets defeated Grant 6-2 and dropped matches to Zeeland East (6-2) and Hamilton (7-1).
The matches at the quad meet were played to four games per set instead of the normal six.
Rockets' No. 1 singles player Olivia Smith won all three of her matches to highlight the Rockets' efforts. Hamilton's Allison Lezman took Smith to three sets before Smith came out on top 4-2, 2-4, 10-7, and Smith won her other two matches in straight sets.
