Shelby defeated Evart in its season-opening doubleheader Tuesday, 5-1 and 6-4.
Trevor Weiss provided great pitching in the opener for the Tigers, allowing only two hits and striking out six. Chase Simon and Neil Gowell each ripped an RBI double in the win.
In game two, Cam Smith got the win, striking out seven. Gowell doubled again and drove in two runs in the second game. DayDay Garcia laced an RBI double and Evan Waller drove in a run with a single.
