Big Sable Point Lighthouse opens May 4 with Star Wars theme

Lakeshore Keepers is excited to announce the seasonal opening of Big Sable Point Lighthouse on Monday, May 4, 2026, 1-5 p.m., kicking off the 2026 season with a fun, family-friendly “May the 4th Be With You” theme.
Visitors are invited to celebrate opening day with a playful nod to the beloved sci-fi saga—costumes are welcome. Guests will have the chance to explore one of Lake Michigan’s most iconic landmarks.
Standing proudly along the shoreline within Ludington State Park, Big Sable Point Lighthouse offers sweeping views, rich maritime history, and the opportunity to climb to the top of the tower for a truly unforgettable experience. It’s a 1.8-mile out-and-back walk or bike to the lighthouse from Ludington State Park.
“We’re thrilled to welcome guests back for another season and to add a little fun to opening day,” Executive Director Jack Greve said. “Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a longtime supporter, May the 4th is a great day to experience the lighthouse.”
