Pentwater alum Abe VanDuinen starred on the track during this winter’s indoor season at Division III Calvin University, setting a new school record in the 800-meter run and becoming the school’s first All-American since 2017.
VanDuinen, a 2024 Falcon graduate who set school marks in all three distance events and in cross-country, set the Calvin record for the third time in the last three weeks of the indoor season by running a time of 1:51.62, good for eighth place in the country, at the national indoor meet in Birmingham, Alabama. Earlier in the season, VanDuinen won the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association conference title in the same event.
