Hart came up on the short end of two one-run thrillers Tuesday against Mason County Central, dropping games 7-6 and 3-2.
The
first game went to extra innings after Joseph Osorio smashed a tying
three-run homer in the sixth inning, making the score 6-6.
Unfortunately, MCC got two hits sandwiched around a Pirate error in the
eighth to score what became the winning run.
In addition to
Osorio's huge hit, Halen Boos, Caden VanGelderen and Logan Jorissen each
got two hits in the game. VanGelderen drove in a pair of runs. Hollis
Rockwell pitched 1 1/3 innings of relief without an earned run, striking
out one in a tough-luck loss.
Game two lasted only three
innings before being called due to thunder in the area. The Spartans
scored three times in the third to again stun the Pirates (3-7, 0-2 West
Michigan Conference Rivers).
Osorio and Rockwell each drove in a run for Hart in game two, and Boos scored both Pirate runs.
