Pentwater alum Abe VanDuinen starred on the track during this winter’s indoor season at Division III Calvin University, setting a new school record in the 800-meter run and becoming the school’s first All-American since 2017.
VanDuinen, a 2024 Falcon graduate who set school marks in all three distance events and in cross-country, set the Calvin record for the third time in the last three weeks of the indoor season by running a time of 1:51.62, good for eighth place in the country, at the national indoor meet in Birmingham, Alabama March 13-14. Earlier in the season, VanDuinen won the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association conference title in the same event.
