Reeths-Puffer was virtually flawless Tuesday in its O-K Green
Conference opening doubleheader against Muskegon, winning both games by
mercy rule and allowing only one baserunner.
The highlight of
the day was a shortened perfect game by Rocket pitcher Makayla Jewett in
game two. She struck out six and did not allow a ball to leave the
infield in three innings.
Also in game two, Kenzie Jacobs went
3-for-3 for the Rockets, tripling twice, scoring three times and
driving in two runs. Lainey McDaniel hit an inside-the-park home run and
got a double, driving in four runs and scoring three more.
In
game one, the Rockets (7-0, 2-0 O-K Green) only needed two times at bat
to rack up 16 runs, including 10 in the first inning. McDaniel had two
singles and a double, and Taylor Long and Madi Reichert each got two
hits. Jacobs laced an inside-the-park home run and drove in two runs,
tying McDaniel and Kennedy Masse for the team lead. McDaniel pitched the
game, surrendering only one hit and striking out six.
