Shelby softball gets back on track with routs of Brethren

Shelby got back on track Thursday after its first defeats of the season the day before, routing Brethren 19-4 and 16-1 in a doubleheader.
The Tigers (10-2) dispatched the Bobcats in three innings in game one, scoring five or more runs in each inning. Jordan Wolting went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and four RBI in the opener, and Jayna Burmeister and Emma Stovall each got two hits and scored four times. Stella Springer and Ciara Anzaldua also got two hits apiece. Jordan Wolting allowed no earned runs and struck out four.
Shelby polished off game two in four innings, including a nine-run surge in the opening inning that was highlighted by Burmeister's grand slam.
Hali Hayes got three hits, and Burmeister, Wolting and Jaedyn Allen each got two. Wolting again got the win, allowing only one hit and no earned runs with five strikeouts.
