Shelby track teams drop home tri to North Muskegon, Ravenna

Shelby dropped a home tri meet against Ravenna and North Muskegon Tuesday in West Michigan Conference Rivers action.
The Tiger girls fell to North Muskegon 68-54 and to Ravenna 76-43, and the boys team lost to North Muskegon 85-37 and to Ravenna 77-40.
Shelby won five events in the girls' meet, highlighted by personal bests by Noel Parker in the 1,600-meter run and Haylie Smith in the high jump. Parker's time was 6:12.4, and Smith posted a jump of 4-8.
Also for Shelby, Kathryn Beyer won the 800 (2:52.0) and Peyton Rapes won the shot put (27-6). The Tigers also won the 3,200 relay with the team of Beyer, Parker, April Luna and Grace Hasenbank (11:47.6).
Parker Weirich had a great day for the Shelby boys, taking both the long-distance running events with new personal bests. Weirich set a time of 5:11.5 in the 1,600-meter run and 11:17.5 in the 3,200.
The Tigers also won both throwing events. Jaylin Henderson won the shot put with a mark of 38-6, and Casey Lamblin won the discus with a mark of 129-2.
