Hesperia took both ends of a doubleheader Thursday against Mason County Eastern, winning games by scores of 11-10 and 16-6.
Game
one was a thriller, with Sarissa Conkle hitting a walk-off two-run home
run in the bottom of the seventh inning after MCE took the lead with
five runs in the top of the inning. The long ball was one of two hits
for Conkle in the game, and she drove in three runs and scored three
more. Olivia Gerard and Madesyn Bolles also had two hits each, and
Bolles doubled and had two RBI.
The Panthers (6-14) rode the
wave of that home run to 13 runs in the first two innings of game two,
adding three more in the third. Avery Wilder had a three-run double in
the first, and Conkle ripped a RBI double in the second. Conkle had two
hits, and Kassondra Ellis scored three runs. Gabby Tanner allowed two
earned runs on seven hits, striking out two.
