Hart runners pile up PRs at Distance Night Under the Lights

Many Hart athletes participated at Saturday's Distance Night Under the Lights at Houseman Field in Grand Rapids, with most of them setting personal best times.
Natalie Rosema earned the highest finish for the Pirates, taking 14th in the 1,600-meter run with a personal best time of 5:17.8. Three Hart teammates raced and all set PRs as well: Martina Saenz was 70th (5:48.97), Emma Miller was 72nd (5:49.6) and Luisa VanderZwaag was 80th (5:54.4).
Hart boys competed in three different races. Silas Ackley led the way, coming in 38th out of 183 finishers in the 3,200-meter run with a personal best time of 9:54.6. Soon after him were Carson Ackley in 69th (10:16.0), Julian Lopez in 80th (a personal best 10:24.2) and Donald Budrew in 148th (11:30.8).
In the 1,600, Mason Opalewski took 51st and had a personal best time (4:34.7), edging teammate Trevor Vander Kodde, who set his own PR and placed 55th (4:35.3). Grant Ackley was 96th (4:42.1), Silas Ackley was 120th (4:48.2), Lopez was 164th (4:53.7) and Budrew was 189th (4:58.6); all but Budrew set PRs in that race.
Vander Kodde led the team in the 800 with a 55th-place finish and a personal best time of 2:02.8. Jack Slotman was 59th (2:03.4) and Opalewski was 75th (a personal best 2:05.3). Grant Ackley finished 120th (2:08.99) and Budrew set a PR and took 139th (2:11.2).
