Hart track teams send out original track with big wins at home quad

Hart's teams sent out their original track on a high note Tuesday, each winning a home quad meet against North Muskegon, Ravenna and Holton.
The original track, which dates to 1985 according to girls coach Calvin Ackley, will be resurfaced beginning this summer, expanding the track from its current six lanes to eight.
The Pirate wins were all by lopsided scores. The girls beat Ravenna 98-36, North Muskegon 96-28 and Holton 102-24, and the boys beat Ravenna 103-33, North Muskegon 107-27 and Holton 123-12.
Chase Lorenz continued to lower his own school record in the 100-meter dash, finishing in 10.96 seconds, and also won the 200-meter dash in a time of 22.21 seconds. Also on the track, Silas Ackley won the 3,200-meter run (10:13.5), Luke VanderWilk won the 110-meter hurdles and set a personal best time (18.61) and Pablo Ortega-Rubio won the 300 hurdles, also in a personal best time (43.08).
VanderWilk also won the high jump with a mark of 5-6, and Caleb Ackley won the shot put and set a personal best mark of 46-4. The Pirate boys won three relays; the 400-meter team was Elon Babbin, Bryce Vander Kodde, Julian Tejada and Lorenz (46.72), the 800 team was Babbin, Jaxson Oomen, Vander Kodde and Lorenz (1:36.7) and the 1,600 team was Jack Slotman, Ortega-Rubio, VanderWilk and Oomen (3:41.1.).
In the girls' meet, Addison Hain won both sprint races, with times of 13.09 seconds in the 100 and 27.48 in the 200, and Ellie Gross took both hurdles races, with times of 18.00 seconds in the 100 and 53.56 in the 300. Natalie Rosema set a personal best to win the 1,600 (5:28.1) and Alaina Schaner won the 3,200 (12:56.6).
In field events, Shelbie Choponis won both throws, setting marks of 118-0 in the discus and 31-10 in the shot put. Lauren Hopkins added a win in pole vault (8-0).
The Pirates also won all four relays. The 400 relay team was Joselyn Flores, Rosema, Gross and Hain (53.01), and in the 800, Lillianna Camacho joined Aurora Virtanen, Hopkins and Emery Velat (2:03.8). The 1,600 team was Rosema, Velat, Emma Miller and Martina Saenz (4:36.2), and the 3,200 team was Kenai Kokx, Velat, Abigail Salazar and Schaner.
