Pentwater had some offensive success in its West Michigan D League finale Monday against Mesick, but came out on the short end of a doubleheader sweep, 12-8 and 16-10.
The Falcons were working with a tweaked lineup due to injuries, which led to some defensive struggles. Mesick grabbed a 9-2 lead with a seven-run second inning, and despite collecting 11 hits, the Falcons couldn’t come back.
Karina Olivarez went 4-for-4 in the game, with two doubles. Charlie Swanger blasted a home run, and Aubrie Adams hit an inside-the-park homer. Adams and Lauren Davis each had two hits.
Pentwater took an early lead in game one, but again Mesick took advantage of Falcon struggles in the field and got 17 hits as well. Amelia Barter doubled twice among her three hits, and Adams, Davis and Grace Riggs each had two hits. Barter drove in two runs.
