Shelby's
Carter brothers again had very good days on the course Friday at the
Montague Invitational, helping the Tigers finish in fourth place as a
team.
Titan Carter finished second overall at the meet
with a 75, and Ivan Carter finished fourth with a 77. Shelby's team
score was 346, 18 strokes behind first-place North Muskegon and 16 ahead
of the Hart Pirates, who finished fifth. Pentwater also competed in the
meet and placed seventh.
It was an unseasonably cold morning,
and Pentwater coach Alicia Kolenda said the team even saw some
snowflakes early in the meet, but joked, "We came prepared with our snow gear to play."
Titan
Carter's 75 was four over par, and his score included three birdies.
Ivan Carter made a birdie in his round as well, and only shot worse than
a bogey once. He finished his round by making par on his final six
holes.
Rafael Davis also reached the top 10 for Shelby,
finishing in a tie for eighth place with an 85. Andrew Arquette was the
Tigers' fourth scorer with a 110.
Logan Dean paced Hart and
got to the individual top 10, tying for 10th place and shooting an 86.
He made a birdie on the par-3 fourth hole.
Wyatt Johnson shot a
90 for the Pirates, and Joel Knobel and Hunter Loudermilk each posted a
93. Loudermilk scored a birdie on the par-4 ninth hole.
Bode
Powell paced the Falcons in the meet by shooting a 91, followed by
Izzabella Kolenda with a 95. Gavin Macher had a 98, and Brody Austin
shot a 100.
