Shelby blanked Newaygo Friday, 2-0, capping off the Tigers' third week in a row of playing three games.
"Solid effort by the entire squad tonight," Shelby. coach Joe Gorton said. "I know they were tired. It's
been a long couple of weeks, and I'm happy to see the fight that they
were still able to summon."
Shelby (7-4-2) controlled most of
the first half, but Newaygo held the Tigers out of the net until late in
the half, when Zoe Cornaby scored a rebound goal after Kylie Brown set
up a scoring chance with a crossing pass. In the second half, Annabelle
Stark finished off the scoring with a race to the goal for an easy
score.
Brylee Friedman picked up an easy shutout thanks to another impressive effort by the Tigers' back line on defense.
