Shelby tested itself with a major non-conference opponent Monday in
Mona Shores and was unable to solve its pitching staff, losing a
doubleheader 9-0 and 13-0. The losses marked Shelby's first of the year
in non-conference play.
The Tigers (22-8) managed four hits in
game one, but made five errors in the field that led to eight unearned
runs. Jayna Burmeister struck out eight and allowed one earned run on
eight hits. She also got a hit and drew the Tigers' only walk.
Shelby again had four hits in game two. Burmeister pitched two hitless innings in relief.
