Titan Carter won a playoff to pick up medalist honors Thursday at
the Benona Shores Invitational, and his Tigers also brought home the
team title. Shelby outshot runner-up Oakridge 289-291.
All four county schools competed, with Hesperia placing eighth (312), Hart in 11th (323) and Pentwater in 14th (378).
It
was Carter, though, who took center stage, shooting a one-over par 61
and knocking in a birdie putt from 20 feet to edge Oakridge's Isaac
Utzinger to be the event medalist.
Carter had a big day on the course, making two birdies and an eagle during the round. His eagle came on the part-4 16th hole.
Also
for the Tigers, Rafael Davis finished in a four-way tie for fifth
place, shooting a 69, including two birdies. Ivan Carter made a birdie
and shot a 70, and Ryan Schouten had an 89 to round out team scoring.
Alex
Scott led Hesperia in scoring with a 72, followed by Logan Kammer with a
78. Taylor Ackerberg shot an 80, and Evan Fuentes had an 82.
Hunter
Loudermilk was Hart's top scorer, logging a 78, which included
back-to-back birdies to close out his round on the 16th and 17th holes
of the course. Wyatt Johnson shot an 80, and Logan Dean had an 81.
Braydan Baron posted an 84.
For Pentwater, Gavin Macher shot
