Lake Effect Artists to host annual Art Show in Stony Lake during July 4 weekend

By Tom Rademacher

If you’re seeking a different sort of bang this coming Fourth of July weekend, consider ditching the fireworks and opting instead for the annual art show in Stony Lake.
It’s free of charge to attend, more pet-friendly than lighting off M-80s and you’ll have more to show for your effort than a ringing in your ears.
The third annual event is set for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, July 4-5, adjacent to the north side of the Stony Lake Depot at 4189 S. Scenic Dr. in Benona Township. It will feature artists from as far away as Florida, specializing in everything from painting to photography to pottery to sculpture to jewelry making and plenty more.
“We’ve worked hard to provide an art show where people will be able to select from a wide array of artists showcasing high-quality creations at a reasonable price,” says Jan Naimo-Jones, spokesperson for the Lake Effect Artists Collective, comprised of artists from all along the lakeshore.
“Our aim is to demonstrate that you don’t have to travel to a big city in order to take part in an art show where everyone can find something to their liking.”
This year’s event will debut a new category for “Emerging Artists,” designed to give current art students and recent art graduates the opportunity to participate, thanks to a grant that will cover their registration fee.
The show will include sales of gelato and slush drinks compliments of a vendor from Three Rivers. For more information, text Naimo-Jones at (616) 466-3699.
