Catherine Augusta Theeuwes passed away peacefully at Regency at Fremont on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the age of 99.
Catherine (Katie) was born in Ulicoten, Netherlands, on April 6, 1927. She married the love of her life and best friend, Francis (Frank) Theeuwes, who preceded her in death in 1976. Loving mother of Albert (Niki) Theeuwes and Rita (Richard) Kobylski. Proud Grandmother of Kimberly Theeuwes, Jennifer Theeuwes, Jessica Theeuwes and Ashley Wier and Great-Grandmother of Gavin, Ariana, Bianca, Dylan and Wyatt. In addition to her husband, Frank, she was also preceded in death by her son-in-law Richard. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Frank and Catherine immigrated to the United States in 1952. Catherine was a professional seamstress and was employed by Powers Store in Hart and the Bridal Shop in Muskegon for many years.
Catherine's joys in life were her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and working in her flower and vegetable garden, which she did well into her 90s. In her later years, she enjoyed going to the Ladder Community Center in Shelby nearly weekly to meet and play dominoes with friends. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting for herself, family, friends and donating numerous afghans and blankets to senior centers.
No memorial service is planned at this time.
The arrangements have been entrusted to Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont.
