The Claybanks United Methodist Church (UMC) is pleased to announce that Pastor Terri Cummins has returned to serve as their pastor, which became effective July 1, 2026.
Pastor Terri is well-acquainted with the area. She served the Shelby UMC for six years and the Claybanks church for two years before leaving the area to serve the Heritage-Pierson UMC in the Pierson/Howard City area. In 2024, after eight years at Heritage-Pierson, she retired and returned to Muskegon, where she reconnected with her family.
For two years, Terri kept herself busy conducting funerals for a local funeral home and filling pulpits for other churches while their pastors were away. However, she found that she really missed the "connection" of pastoring a church, so she asked the bishop of the Michigan Conference of The United Methodist Church for a part-time appointment and was appointed to the Claybanks UMC.
The congregation is looking forward to assisting Terri in her goal of "Caring for God’s Flock."
The community is warmly invited to come and meet Pastor Terri. Claybanks UMC holds Sunday services at 10:30 a.m. at 9197 56th Ave. (P.O. Box 104), Montague, MI. The congregation is eager to introduce Pastor Terri to any visitors or new members and also extends an invitation to the entire community to their famous Strawberry Social on Saturday, Aug. 14 from 5-7 p.m.
