Hart boys cross-country tops fellow state title contender at Under the Lights Invite

Hart's boys team, a projected state title contender, made a big statement Friday night at the Grand Rapids South Christian Under the Lights Invitational, defeating one of the other top contenders in Division 3, Saugatuck.
The Pirates ran in the Nightfall division of the race, which featured over 300 runners and 21 scoring schools. They finished in fourth place, 10 points ahead of the Trailblazers.
Hart again showcased its depth, with a 1-through-5 gap of less than a minute for its scoring runners. Silas Ackley led the team with a 17th-place finish and a time of 16:16.7. Carson Ackley was close behind in 21st place (16:25.5), and Timothy Wolff finished 31st. (16:49.9). Closing the scoring were Mason Opalewski (42nd, 17:04.8) and Owen VanderVlucht (44th, 17:08.2).
The Pirate girls took 12th of 19 scoring schools in their division. Natalie Rosema led the team, coming in 21st place with a time of 19:55.5. Luisa VanderZwaag was 61st (21:41.8). Also scoring were Alaina Schaner (72nd, 21:48.7), Bryn Riley (74th, 21:53.0) and Lola House (187th, 24:50.3), with the latter setting a personal best.
