Hart controlled much of Friday's game at Algoma Christian and was
finally rewarded for it in the final minutes when Adriel Belmares scored
the only goal of a 1-0 Pirates' win.
Hart held a shots edge
of over two-to-one, according to coach Guillermo Ortega, but Algoma
Christian's keeper kept the Pirates (2-1) out of the net most of the
game, and Hart missed a penalty kick at one point. As time wound down,
though, Belmares took control of the ball on a counterattack and laced a
shot just out of the keeper's reach to give Hart the win.
Ortega
said the Pirates struggled to connect passes through most of the first
half, but after resetting at the break, were in command of the
proceedings in the second.
"Defense locked down the game, only
allowing single-digit shots from the opposition," Ortega said.
