As students head back to the classroom and educators prepare for another exciting year of learning, the Oceana Community Foundation (OCF) is pleased to announce that applications are now open for its annual Teacher Mini-Grants Program.
Funded through the Foundation's Youth Advisory Council (YAC) and community partners, Teacher Mini-Grants provide up to $250 to help public and private school teachers and counselors throughout Oceana County bring creative ideas to life.
From hands-on STEM projects and literacy programs to sensory learning tools, art experiences, classroom enrichment activities and student engagement initiatives, these grants help educators create memorable learning opportunities for their students. Past grants have supported a wide variety of projects across Oceana County schools, reflecting the creativity, innovation and dedication of local educators.
The Teacher Mini-Grants Program is led by the Foundation's Youth Advisory Council (YAC), a group of student representatives and adult advisors from five Oceana County schools. Together, YAC members identify youth-focused needs in their communities and help direct funding to programs and projects that positively impact local youth. Through the Teacher Mini-Grants Program, YAC members have the opportunity to support educators while helping enhance learning experiences for fellow students across the county.
"One of our favorite parts of the school year is seeing the ideas teachers bring forward through this program," OCF Community Impact Officer Hannah Naples said. "Our educators are constantly finding new ways to engage students, and these grants provide a small boost to help make those ideas happen."
Applications are open now through Sept. 30, and teachers and counselors serving Oceana County students are encouraged to apply. Whether it's a new classroom project, a special learning experience or an opportunity to enhance an existing program, the OCF welcomes creative ideas of all kinds.
The Oceana Community Foundation encourages school administrators, teachers, counselors and community members to help spread the word so that as many educators as possible can take advantage of this opportunity.
