Jazwinski races to win, Whitehall boys finish 2nd with girls 3rd at WMC meet

Whitehall took second place in the boys' race and third in the girls' at Tuesday's West Michigan Conference meet in Fremont, which brought all 14 league schools together.
The Vikings' Bobby Jazwinski dominated the boys' race, winning by nearly two full minutes with a time of 14:37. Rex Pumford narrowly missed making it a 1-2 Whitehall finish, placing third in a time of 16:37.
Ian Dennis took 19th place for Whitehall (18:08), and Scout Freiheit was 21st (18:17). Alex Winczewski rounded out team scoring with a 35th-place finish (18:42).
Montague's boys team took fifth place, including two top-10 finishers. Wesley Mair finished fifth in a time of 16:40, followed by Nolan Kessler in seventh with a time of 17:12. Also for the Wildcats, Gibson Smith (38th, 18:56), Jonathan Mueller (40th, 19:09) and Brock Hunter (51st, 19:39) scored for the team.
Gabrielle Chevez paced the Viking girls, taking fourth place with a time of 20:29, and Madison Heuschele took seventh place in a time of 21:00. Reese Hesse was just outside the top 10, placing 12th in a time of 21:43. Kassie Sapp (24th, 23:41) and Vivian Hesse (36th, 25:05) also scored for the team.
Montague's girls team finished seventh. Erica Hansen led the team with a 34th-place finish and had a time of 24:44. Brightyn Minchak finished 38th (25:33), and Amelia Liskey took 48th (27:16), finishing with the same time as Gemma Lorson, who finished 49th. Arianna Mueller placed 61st (30:27) to close the scoring.
