Montague boys cross-country places 2nd, girls 3rd at Sparta Invitational

Montague raced in Saturday's Sparta Invitational, with the Wildcat boys taking second out of four scoring teams in the Divisions 2-3 race, and Montague's girls finishing third.
Wesley Mair led the Wildcat boys and set a new personal best time of 16:31.5, good for second place. Nolan Kessler followed in third, posting a time of 17:01.7.
Also for Montague, Brock Hunter took 12th place and had a time of 18:45.3, and Gibson Smith was 16th (19:47.9). Jonathan Mueller closed the scoring with a 19th-place finish (20:00.8).
Freshmen were three of the top four Montague girls finishers, including Brightyn Minchak, who took 17th place in a time of 26:44.5, just ahead of fellow freshman Amelia Liskey (26:45.97). Peyton Sweet was 20th (28:13.6), and another freshman, Gemma Lorson placed 23rd (29:47.5). Arianna Mueller was the Wildcats' fifth scorer, placing 27th (35:02.4).
