O'Connell leads strong Montague golf performance in Fremont jamboree win; Whitehall again takes 2nd

Montague and Whitehall again earned the top two spots on the leaderboard Thursday at the Fremont jamboree, and the Wildcats did so by having two of their four scoring players (and four in all) earn personal best nine-hole scores. The Wildcats shot a team score of 168, eight strokes ahead of the runner-up Vikings.
Marguerite O'Connell led the 'Cats with a 38, beginning her round with a birdie and knocking in an eagle on the par-4 second hole late in her round. Addi Smith finished third with a 40, which like O'Connell's score was a PR. Smith shot no worse than a bogey on any hole.
Also for Montague, Molly Mulder had a 43, and Brynlee Kessler shot a 47. Hazel Grice and Callie Peterson did not contribute to the team score, but both posted nine-hole PRs as well - a 50 and 53 respectively.
Riley Shafer finished second for Whitehall, shooting a 39, including a birdie. Kelsie McClure had a 42 and finished fifth, and Avarie Bentz shot a 47. Kadee TenBrock's 48 rounded out Whitehall scoring.
