It was a special day for the Hart Pirates Tuesday at the Fremont jamboree, as both the boys and girls teams secured West Michigan Conference Lakes championships, continuing a streak of double digit seasons atop the league. Hart's girls team has now won 11 straight conference titles, and the boys extended their string to 10 seasons.
The Pirate boys' championship was inevitable given their dominance throughout the season, but the Hart girls took it to the wire and were able to edge Ludington by a single point across the three Lakes jamborees' cumulative scores to take the top spot.
Hart's girls finished second to Ludington, 32-37, in Tuesday's jamboree but still hung on for the overall conference title. The Pirates had four top-10 finishers Tuesday, led by Natalie Rosema in third place with a time of 21:53. Bryn Riley was sixth at 22:56, Luisa VanderZwaag came in right behind her in seventh at 23:00 and Emma Miller was ninth with a time of 24:22. Lola House was the Pirates' fifth scorer, in 15th place (25:18).
